Paul McDonnell is no stranger to high praise - in 2014 ‘Be all you can be’ won the IMRO Christy Hennessy Award for Songwriting. Paul is the only double winner of that award (2014 and 2011)  In 2011 he also won with “ Superman” . Both songs are cowritten and produced by long time collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Dave Molloy. Dave is a much sought after producer in Fork Hill, North Ireland and is considered one of Ireland’s top session guitarists . “Be All You Can Be” is also co-written by film score composer Cathleen Flynn. Cathleen secured the synchronisation of “Be All You Can Be” as the theme song for the acclaimed US film ‘37’. Cathleen recently orchestrated music for the new major film “Greta” starring Isabelle Huppert and Grace Moretz.”   Over his 20 year songwriting career, Paul has written in the songwriting epicentre of Nashville and composed for De Danann, Tommy Fleming, Lisa Lambe, Leah McFall.  His songs have been placed in films, on TV and used in advertising campaigns internationally.  Tommy Fleming , a multi platinum selling artist who has recorded 9 songs penned by Paul and his cowriters. His recent album features “Be All You Can Be” (McDonnell, Molloy, Flynn). The Song also features on Tommy’s “Voice Of Hope 2” Concert recently filmed for PBS America. Paul is a very busy performer in Ireland, playing over 100 shows per annum. In the past he was lead singer/guitarist with the very successful De Danann and he is active as a studio singer/guitarist for other writers . In 2016 he was also a guitarist for major international artists, Celtic Woman in Asia.
